Club My War O))) with It's Casual ..Of The Horizon, Aeges, G.F.P. and Auto Modown at the Troubadour
Club My War is starting up again after a bit of a hiatus (Yes!). I remember back to the first few times I went to CMW shows at the Relax bar. The music was awesome, but the whole time I was just tripping out that metal bands were be playing in a dive bar attached to a Thai restaurant. Not a typical venue, for sure, but there was definitely some unique character involved.
It was then that I noticed that Eddie Solis was trying make something out of nothing, and bring a piece of the LA music community together so that Metal, Stoner Rock, Drone and Punk bands could have a regular location to play at, even if the place wasn’t the greatest. But hey, it was better than nothing, and I have to give Eddie a ton of credit for his efforts. There’s not many people in this town trying to make a difference for others, and Eddie’s been going out of his way to pull all of this together, while dealing with a ton of BS at the same time.
Now that the Club My War battery is charged up again, I’m guessing we can expect to see a good local show at least once a month over at the Troubadour.
Eddie’s been saying he wants to take it to the next level, and make it more professional, and I don’t see why not. I feel this is going to be a good opportunity for LA bands to have something too look forward too in the New Year, not to mention having a decent venue to play at.
I know there’s a lot of different clubs in Hollywood area, but this place has great sound, good lighting, and a lot of cool LA history behind it. What else do you need?
So there you have it, no “band” has any excuses or any reasons to bitch about not having a good venue to gig at. And getting a good crowd to show up? That’s up to you. No spot is going to matter if you’re music sucks, so bring your chops.
